  1. The History Committee is continuing to pursue leads on information for its archives. “Our collection has grown so extensively that items were moved recently to a larger storage area where the committee members are busy describing, recording, and numbering each piece,” noted Dorethea Cappadona, committee chairperson. The archives so far contain photographs, maps, aricles, books, blueprints, maps, slides, film, audio tape interviews, and other memorablia connected to the former Marshall III estate.

  2. “Caumsett was one of the most storied of the Gold Coast estates and our archives have been invalable in providing pertinent data for restoration work.” stated Mrs. Capppadona. For example, old photographs have aided the Caumsett Foundation it its decision to paint the restored barns white and to renovate the walled garden according to its original quadrant plan. Among the many interesting items in the collection is a cream bottle from Field’s dary donated by a Huntington resident, who found the bottle in his back yard. The embossed glass reads, 1/2 pint, Grade A, Caumsett Farm.” “Dairy products that exceeded the needs of the self-sustaining estate were sold in Huntington,” Mrs. Cappadona explained.
